The Alberta Library Conference (ALC) 2007 Planning Committee invites proposals for sessions for next year’s conference in Jasper, Alberta on April 26-29, 2007.
The theme for ALC 2007 is:

The theme recognizes the Alberta Library Community’s strong focus on providing high quality library services and our leadership in the development of library service and education in public, academic, and K-12 libraries. It also ties in the idea of the celebrating the centennial of The Alberta Libraries Act and the addition of the Alberta School Library Council of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ASLC) (formerly known as LRC) to the conference planning committee this year.
Sessions may be of general interest to the library community in Alberta or directed towards the membership of the co-sponsoring organizations, the Alberta Library Trustees Association or the Library Association of Alberta, or the Alberta School Library Council of the Alberta Teachers’ Association.

The social side of the Alberta Library Conference 2006
Conferences aren’t only about the sessions - they are a great way to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the province as well as meet some new ones. This year, as always, your planning committee has been hard at work organizing a selection of opportunities for conference delegates to meet, greet and network in the wonderful setting of the Jasper Park Lodge.

The following session has just been announced:
Session C7
Getting in on the Ground Floor: The Library’s Collaborative Role in Degree Planning presented by Nicolle Lemay
Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton is seeking approval to offer a four year Commerce degree. The LRC has had a role in this endeavour from an early point in the process. One aspect of the collaboration between library staff and the School of Business has been the development of a plan to integrate “professional skills”, including information literacy and research, into the third and fourth year curriculum. MacEwan Librarian Nicolle Lemay will discuss what they did, and what next steps they will take.
There are updates to the following sessions:
Session C7
Including the Socially Excluded: Community Development in Public Libraries
This session has been withdrawn by request of the speakers.
Session C1
Perceptions of Libraries and Information Resources: Results of an OCLC Study
