Call for Proposals for ALC 2004

The Alberta Library Conference 2004 Planning Committee invites proposals for sessions at the conference (April 29 – May 2, 2004). The theme for the conference is:

Visible and Valued
Getting the Good News Out

Libraries have long been recognized as inherently “good”, quietly serving quiet patrons. Gone are those days! Today’s libraries are vibrant centers of activity using the latest technology to meet the information and recreational needs of the entire community. A strategic business and marketing approach must be taken to ensure that present and potential clientele and those who make funding decisions know of the services offered by libraries and know that they make economic sense – but as for any valued service, there is a cost! The statistics and the stories can readily prove the worth of libraries in today’s world.

Sessions can be of general interest to the library community in Alberta or directed towards the membership of the co-sponsoring organizations, the Alberta Library Trustees Association or the Library Association of Alberta.

Please email session proposals by August 2nd to either of the conference co-chairs below:

Please include with your proposal: proposed topic, session title (if known), target audience and expected remuneration.

Public and regional library directors are asked to forward this invitation to their respective trustees.
